CORRECT MAINTENANCE ON A HOT TUB.
OK, here we're going to talk about how to fill and drain a spa. Some people tend to think they have to be plumbed in or hard plumbed with a current plumbing system in your home. Not the case, you simply grab a garden hose, place the hose into the spa. In most cases you want to fill it into the filter compartment where it's going to flood equipment compartment in the spa itself. Simply fill the spa to the fill line. Most spas do have a fill line as we do here, tells you what level to bring it to. It's very important to make sure the spa is completely full before you ever turn the power on. If we get too much air in the system it's possible you could cause damage or it will shut the system down because it detects air in the system. Then to drain the spa, there are many different drains on the market. Some will require you to open up the equipment compartment and access a drain bib, very similar to something you would have on your house. Connect the hose and you could drain it at that point. On this spa, we simply disconnect the cap. You can hook the garden hose right on and then turn the valve on to start the draining process. Or you can buy submersible pumps that will set in the spa that you connect the garden hose that will speed up the process. Usually it will take around forty-five minutes to drain a spa with a submersible, around one to one and a half hours with a gravity drain.
